SCHULSTAD FAMILY RECENT EVENTS, AS OF MAY 6, 2007

  • Eric Schulstad (San Pedro, CA) recently retired (fall 2006) from the federal government after 32 years, 8 months of federal service (including 3 years, 3 months in the U.S. Army).

  • Jim and Karen Barney (of Golden, Colorado) have a new baby boy, Sawyer James Barney, born on 28 March 2007. Ben, who will be two in June 2007, is still deciding if he is excited about having a baby brother!

  • R.B. and Gretchen Carey (of Phoenix, Arizona) have a new baby boy, Cooper Dayne Carey, born 5-30-2006. Dad reports that Cooper has blue eyes, blond hair, weighs 17 lbs. and is on the brink of walking already (as of Feb 2007).

  • Shea Tankersley graduated from Centre College in May 2006 with a degree in History. She is currently living in Mt. Pleasant, SC working for State Farm Insurance Company.

  • Jenny Schulstad married Michael Brailey in July 2006 in Seattle. The happy couple recently moved into their new home in the Wallingford section of Seattle.

  • Jeff and Michelle Schulstad (of Reno, Nevada) have a new baby boy, Lewis Jon Schulstad, born on 29 January 2007. Sister Sophie (age 2) has been very welcoming of her new sibling.

  • Tina Schulstad recently stepped down as Chair of the Washington State Chapter of the Sierra Club, but is serving on two committees for the National Sierra Club.

  • Jim Taber recently caught a 12-pound rubber boot while fishing in the Willamette River.

  • Maureen Hyde has started her freshman year in college at Metropolitan State College of Denver. She is a busy young woman, with full course load and a job too (Cousin John Wayne Schulstad will be glad to know she is working part time at TARGET).

  • Mel Schulstad celebrated his 89th birthday in March 2007, and secured his grip for yet another year as the senior cousin among the 2nd generation cousins.

  • Dr Betty McMicken took a position as Assistant Professor at California State University - Long Beach [CSULB]. She says, "now I have to figure out how to publish again! I have not published since the early 1990's". On the side, she hopes to go to Arabian Nationals this year with her 2 horses.

  • Naomi Ida Schulstad graduated from University of Minnesota - Crookston, in 2005 with two degrees: one in Horticulture and one in Information Technology Management. Since graduation she has worked at a computer help desk company and is currently employed at Lowe’s. She is engaged to long time friend, Mike Hanson, and they are looking at a 22 June 2007 wedding date.

  • Laura Creecy is living and working in Southern California as an editor for a documentary entitled "Everyday Dancers".

  • Karen Creecy graduated from the University of Maryland with two degrees, a B.S. in Psychology and a B.S. in Community Health. She is now working as an epidemiological assistant for University of Maryland Medical School.

  • Mark/Christine/L. (age 4) Schulstad of Annapolis, MD just returned from a 2-week ski trip (Jan 2007) in British Columbia.

  • Christina Schulstad Hayes is a new mother, having given birth to Cody Michel Hayes on 1 Nov 2006. The Hayes family (Mike, Christina and Cody) lives in Annapolis MD.

  • News from Florida: Christopher Schulstad Cameron is in his third year at the University of Florida. His brother, Matthew Cameron, is a junior in high school, and is close to attaining Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts.

  • Sara Cole was recently married (17 March 2007) to James Barnard. The happy couple was wed in Salt Lake City, and is making their new home in the in Salt Lake City area.

  • Taylor Cole is having a heck of a senior year on his baseball team at Bishop Gorman HS, in Las Vegas, NV. At last report, he was playing shortstop (batting average of .529) and pitching (5-1, with 49 strikeouts; fastball has been clocked at 94 mph). The major league scouts have been visiting the Bishop Gorman team’s games to make their assessments for a possible draft in June 2007.
